Old Strovolos is the traditional core of Strovolos, the biggest municipality in the wider metropolitan area of Nicosia. The diversity and richness of the area are known although still hidden and undervalued. Points of interest based on mapping, such as Frankish era irrigation facilities, medieval gardens, metalwork draftsmanship, courtyards and orchards can be found in the old core area. Significant cultural structures are located in this area, ready to be discovered, such as the Panayia Chryseleousa church, St. George church, the green area outside the town hall of Strovolos, the area of the old cemetery, St. Marina church area extended up to the river bed of Pedieos as well as the old Town Hall – Municipal Library. The character of the old houses situated in the area and the narrow streets reveile the way of living during the past two centuries.
